WHAT: Campbellton Community Garden (CCG) is the 1st pilot site for the Aglanta Grows-A-Lot program. We are a group of neighbors dedicated to transforming a vacant lot into a food-producing asset for the neighborhood. Come help turn an empty lot into a beautiful, food-producing green space for the community. Volunteers will help with weeding, mulching, and harvesting.
GARDEN SAFETY: Please bring water, a face mask and wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Bring a hat and insect repellent during warm months.
Work gloves are also needed, you can bring your own but we also have gloves on-site that can be borrowed. You are welcome to bring your own tools too.
WEATHER POLICY: In the event of severe weather conditions (ice, heavy snow or rain, thunder, lightening), a cancellation email will be sent to volunteers. Work days are very seldom cancelled but it is totally understandable (and encouraged) for volunteers to cancel / decline if there are reports of hazardous conditions anywhere on the route to the garden
COVID: Please bring a face mask. We don't require wearing face masks per se, we ask that volunteers and other visitors comply with CDC guidelines, but also be prepared to wear a mask if requested due to the possibility of there being someone at the garden who belongs to a highly vulnerable group and our wanting to protect those individuals.
TEAM / GROUP SIGN UPS: CCG very much appreciates and encourages team sign ups. The Hands On Atlanta portal allows team sign ups where all members of the team can register for the volunteer opportunity. We require that the person designated as the Team Captain provide an active email address.
Another option is to reserve spots for a team. The procedure for this option is for the Team Captain to register and provide an active email address. The next step is for the team captain (or other team member) to send an email to the garden manager (griggsanne@gmail.com) requesting that spots be reserved for the team.
NOTE: Please do not create and register under placeholder accounts, it is against Hands On Atlanta policy.
Under 18 Volunteers:
Option 1:
Any garden volunteer under the age of the age of 18 should be accompanied by a parent / legal guardian. If the volunteer is accompanied by an adult who is not the legal guardian, a waiver signed by the parent / legal guardian must be submitted and acknowledged by the garden manager via email in advance or brought on the day of event.
Option 2:
Youth / School groups are welcome. There should be at least one adult accompanying the group and the waiver needs to be signed by the parents / legal guardians of any volunteers under the age of 18.
Please contact the garden manager (griggsanne@gmail.com) for the waiver.
