Community Powered Resolution

 

The mission of the City of Atlanta’s Urban Agriculture and Food System initiative is to cultivate  a more resilient, equitable, inclusive, just, and accessible food system for Atlanta. The Community Powered Resolution (CPR) process is led by South Fulton Community Mediation Center (SFCM). SFCM is independent of the City of Atlanta Urban Agriculture Program. Access to independent, confidential, certified SFCM mediators and the CPR process can be powerful for urban agriculture participants, projects, & program on City of Atlanta property, and Atlanta’s food system.

Conflict is inevitable  in community garden, farm, and food system work. When it occurs, Community Powered Resolution (CPR)  is a way to find a resolution to a disagreement. Resolving disagreements is a learned skill and practice.


 

By participating in urban agriculture programs on public, city-owned land all participants have access Community Powered Resolution services, and agree: 

  • To cultivate skills in communication and resolution. 

  • To practice listening and responding with respect and accountability.to improve relations between parties in disagreement. 

  • To work toward a solution that all parties can agree to.  

  • To utilize this as opportunity for personal & leadership growth 

  • To utilize this as an opportunity to evolve Atlanta’s community-based food system

By participating in urban agriculture programs on city land you agree to participate in the Code of Conduct and Community Powered Resolution.

HOW CAN COMMUNITY POWERED RESOLUTION SUPPORT ME?

Community Powered Resolution (CPR) process empowers growers on city property and the residents of the neighborhood(s) who live by this city to create a solution to conflict in a way that can be a transformative act for all parties, and in doing so, help create a more resilient, equitable, inclusive, just, and accessible community-based food system in Atlanta.  CPR Resources include:

  1. Access to training to help you cultivate your skills in communication and resolution. 

  2. Access to independent, certified community mediators (*South Fulton Community Mediation Center, Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution), to advise and facilitate meaningful conversations that can help parties create a solution to their conflict and grow through these (3) opportunities:

    • Community Powered Resolution Coaching.

    • Season Check-In

    • Community Mediation Session
