COMMUNITY POWERED RESOLUTION
Community Powered Resolution is available to participants in urban agriculture programs on City of Atlanta land through the South Fulton Community Mediation Center. The CPR process empowers community food system stakeholders to create a solution to conflict in a way that can be a transformative act for all parties, and in doing so, help create a more resilient, equitable, inclusive, just, and accessible community-based food system in Atlanta. Conflict is inevitable in community garden, farm, and food system work. Community Powered Resolution is a way to find a resolution to a disagreement. Resolving disagreements is a learned skill and practice.
Overview & Definitions
By participating in urban agriculture programs on public, city-owned land all participants agree to utilize resources such as Community Powered Resolution (CPR) to:
To cultivate your own skills in communication and resolution.
To practice listening and responding with respect and accountability to improve relations between parties in disagreement.
To work toward a solution that all parties can agree to.
To utilize the CPR process as an opportunity for personal and leadership growth.
To utilize the CPR process as an opportunity that can evolve our community’s food system.
By participating in urban agriculture programs on city land you agree to participate in the Code of Conduct, and Community Powered Resolution.
SOUTH FULTON COMMUNITY MEDIATION CENTER
To better serve growers and community food system stakeholders the City of Atlanta refers 100% of resolution request to independent, certified, confidential community mediators with the South Fulton Community Mediation Center (South Fulton CMC). South Fulton CMS’s mission is to educate and empower community members, families, organizations, courts and schools to transform conflicts into opportunities for mutual understanding, communication, and personal growth. In 2023 grower on City of Atlanta property has the opportunity to access CPR resources and participate in a process that can empower the dissenting parties to find a way to transform conflict into personal growth and the creation of a more resilient, equitable, inclusive, just, and accessible food system in Atlanta. This is an independent, confidential process and opportunity for you and our collective food system.
