Five Points Farm (@Five Points MARTA) Community Garden - AgLanta Grows-A-Lot

  • Five Points MARTA Farm 1 Forsyth Street Southwest Atlanta, GA, 30303 United States (map)

Who: The Five Points Farm, Community Garden team is a member of the AgLanta Grows-A-Lot program. Our purpose is to create a sense of community in the revitalizing downtown area on top of MARTA's Five Points Station (one of the most unique locations in the city) and to educate others on creating an oasis using containers and being able to grow food anywhere (we're a pilot for edible landscaping in urban areas). Thank you for working with us to cultivate a more resilient, equitable and accessible food system for ONE Atlanta.

What: Volunteers will help with weeding, planting, watering, harvesting and doing site beautification projects. Wear clothes you can get dirty in. (Groups please reach out to me directly before the event to coordinate).

Safety:  As restrictions for COVID-19 are changing, we make it voluntary to wear a mask (we can supply a mask if needed) - but we ask our volunteers to cancel if you are feeling any symptoms. Please wear a mask if not vaccinated, and bring garden gloves if possible.  We will use best practices including social distancing and supply hand sanitizer and a hand wash station.  Please bring a water bottle, wear a hat, and closed toe shoes.

Parking: While taking MARTA is the easiest way to get to the Five Points Farm, there is street parking that is free on Sundays in the smaller streets east (next to Underground) north and south of the Five Points MARTA station (be sure to check signs).

Weather Policy: Volunteer days will move forward unless severe thunderstorms occur. Volunteer manager will contact volunteers prior under threat of bad weather.

Community Service: We welcome volunteers doing mandatory service (some of our best workers) - whether court-ordered or through a school. Please review www.handsonatlanta.org/mandatory-service - as far as getting letters on letterhead (I report hours online then HandsOn can send out a letter). I'm happy to sign community service documents on site if needed. PS - If you want to pick up an additional hour, text me @ 404-313-7566

Questions: Contact volunteer manager Jim Hackler 404-313-7566 with questions (call or text).
